[ It's a weekday. ]

[He happens to be at the shop when his phone goes off. Luckily, he's literally the only person at the store, so he didn't have to worry about being judged about being on his cellphone when working.

However, the familiar voice he heard over the phone had been playing in his mind, so he knew who it was... and the fail already begins:]

G-Good morning!!

Enchanting Blossoms shop. How may I help you today?

[Mikoto... this is your cellphone.]

[It's February 14th! Early enough before the blind dates have started, Anya was busy.

At Enchanted Blossoms, Mikoshiba will find a little bit more than most. There's an assortment of little pouches filled with heart-shaped macarons, about 6 or 7 each. Mikoto's pouch seems to have about 10 in it, actually?! If you get there early enough, they might even still be warm. There's a neat little card addressed to him written in Anya's neat and short hand-writing:]

I know this might be a bit to ask, but could you hold onto some of these for others too?

The little extra that she's talking about happens to be a small phone charm that reminded her of him.

The macarons have their own little messages instead of the classic Sweetheart Conversations, customized based on whoever Anya's giving them to. This batch reads:]

[When Mikoto receives this, he wants to cry. This was just the thing he needed to see to get him prepared for the busy day at the flower shop. Anya truly was an angel in disguse]

Thank you so much for the presents, Anya!! I love them. The macaroons are good and I promise I'll hand them out to the others. The phone charm is too cute and I'm using it right now.

When you the chance, stop by the flower shop again. I have something special for you.

[Besides, he didn't mind her leaving other people's presents at his store. (mainly because it's Anya and in his mind, she could get away with almost anything) This also gave him a good chance to convince the people that come in to get flowers for Anya.

Whenever she decides to stop by the shop, what will be waiting for her is a blue rose and lily bouquet that was made just for her. Along with the bouquet will be a neatly wrapped box with a pearl lily bracelet inside. There will also be a hand written note that says:]

Happy Valentines Day, Anya!

Thank you for always making my day. I saw this bracelet at a shop and thought of you. Unlike the flower crown, this should last forever.

It includes a cutely hand-decorated and sticker laden card that reads:] Otsukaresama~ I knew you'd be busy at work today, so I decided not to both you by dropping by, but I owe you lunch this weekend to make up for it! Happy birthday, Mikoto! Another year of celebrating your birthday is another year of friendship to add to our count, and I'm very grateful to be able to do that. Thank you for being with me through so much, and here's to many, many more birthdays we can smile together for. --Minako ♥ [The gift inside is a certain limited edition release of a video game from Japan that includes a poster of the main characters and a redemption code for the DLCs.]

Quite honestly, he was speechless. It takes him a few minutes for him to process the birthday gift from his best friend. He's feeling a bit emotional, but there's a wide smile on his face that would not disappear. He made a mental not to send her something that she would love when her birthday rolls around.]

[In all honesty, Mikoto didn't know what to expect when he received a strange manila envelope on the mail. This definitely wasn't one of those things, though.

To be fair, Karkat did say he would send him a certificate but after a few days had passed, he thought it was a joke.

In a way he was flattered but he couldn't help but feel bothered that...

He still didn't get his name right.

It's a chilly evening. Yato's restless and bored, and he feels like being nosy. Those are really the only reasons he needs to trespass on Mikoto's property?? So he quietly pokes the top of his head into a lit window and peers into whatever room he happens to chance upon. Mikotooooo... ]

[Mikoto happens to be in the kitchen the moment Yato is peering into the window. He's humming to himself and warming up a slice of pizza in his microwave. As he's letting it warm up, he heads over to the fridge to poor himself a cup of water and when he's heading back that's when he notices a set of very familiar eyes.

And he falls over from the shock. YATO WHAT THE HELL.

But it doesn't take him long to storm over to the window, opening it to greet his "guest".]

Why don't you knock on the door like normal people?!

[ Well, Yato fucked up.

He needs to sleep, but there's something on his mind. He's too restless to stay lying down for long, so he's taken to wandering the moonlit streets of Recollé, simultaneously trying to think about a solution to his problem and trying to block the problem out of his mind completely.

Is this guilt? Maybe this is what guilt feels like. He can deal with getting punched, yelled at, or scolded, but Yato does not like feeling guilty. He has to do something about it, or else he'll be up all night...

...

And so, Yato shows up at Mikoto's house. On the doorstep like a normal person, even. He rings the doorbell... ]

[When the doorbell rings, Mikoto had just got himself a cup of coffee after pouring some milk into Noa's bowl. Who could be ringing his doorbell this late at night?

Now he was worried. Was it Rin, Chiyo or Minako? What if one of them was in trouble?! He instantly rushes over to the door, opening it with a worried expression on his face. ... Only for it to transform to a look of pure skepticism when he sees who it is.

He was definitely surprised.]

You can actually ring the door like a normal person?

[ Wherever they are, as soon as the power goes out, Chiyo screams from the abruptness, more from surprise than fear. She reaches out with one hand for something solid: a wall, a table, Mikoto, anything. ]

M-Mikoto? Where are you? Do you have your phone?

[ She stumbles in the darkness as her eyes adjust, trying to find her purse where her own phone is. ]

[On top of the power going out and scaring him, Chiyo's scream also catches him off guard and he nearly falls over from where he was standing. Luckily it was dark so she couldn't see his fail. None the less, he had to find her and make sure that she was okay.

Despite that he was internally freaking out right now because he was terrified of the dark.

But he didn't want to seem too afraid in front of Chiyo. Because that would look totally uncool (even though... she knows you too well, Mikoto.)]

I-I'm right here, Chiyo! I can't see you but I'm here. I... uh, shit. I don't know where my phone's at. I think it might be by the register?

[Of course the one time he didn't keep his phone in his pocket, is when THIS happens. He's currently feeling up the wall, trying to find Chiyo along with attempting to find his phone... while also trying not to fall over again.]

This is just a heads up that I'm going to be turning my phone off entirely for a week. To help figure out if this app is responsible for the strangeness we experience.

To make sure I am still around for work, I will stop by and check in every day in the morning, regardless if I'm not scheduled. That way, if you need me for a shift you can still get me. Is that ok?
